Friday Favorites | #0001

I know a lot of awesome bloggers that do this (shout out to one of my favorite "Friday fave's" girls, THE DAINTY SQUID!), and I wanted to join alone. I know that like literally no one is reading my blog right now, and I'm cool with that, but I am still going to try and document some of my favorite things every Friday. :P

Four Years Together, Yo!

Dictionary.com defines the word ANNIVERSARY as such: "the celebration or commemoration of such a date." Well folks, today Kenneth and I are doing just that. Well, sort of...

Today, Kenneth and I have been together for four whole years! Now, I know that may not seem like a lot to many of you, but to us, it's a freaking. huge. deal. For starters, for Ken and I, this is the longest relationship either of us has ever been in. Our past relationships consisted of crazy girls (for Ken), and being a crazy girl (for me). Together, we have learned a lot of things about being in a serious, committed relationship.
This brings me to my second point. Since day one, Ken and I have been in a (gasp!) long distance relationship. Yeah, it's been SUPER hard, but you know what, I think it's also made us better people in a sense. We don't take each other for granted. We try to enjoy every little moment together.
It is hard though, ya know? I mean, how nice would it be right now if I could look over my shoulder while writing this post and see his damn handsome face buried in his iPhone reading the next greatest Reddit post. To me, that would just be primo.
Alas, that is not my reality. No, Kenneth is 50 miles away sitting on his own couch buried in his iPhone reading the next greatest Reddit post. Yes, even on our dang anniversary. But you know what? IT'S OK! I have learned to be ok with it. I know it isn't going to be forever. Someday, when the timing is right for the both of us (and career permitting), it will happen. I can't flippin' wait for that day!
One of my favorite quotes from Kenneth (that I use as my mantra when I am missing him terribly) is this: "We never said it was going to be easy, but we know that it is going to be worth it." Man, that hits home, and he is sooooo right on with that! It sure as shit isn't easy, but I know for a fact that when that time comes for us to be together always, it will be so worth it.
So yes, here I sit in my empty apartment thinking about our last four years together, and despite all of the trials we have been through as a couple, I know he is there for me. He is right here even though he can't be right here all the time. He is my rock, my anchor, and whatever other cheesy cliche things you can think of..he is all those things. He is my person, and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it.
Kenneth, if you are reading this, I hope you know how much I love you. I love you with all of my being. With everything that I am. Thank you for showing me all of the good things, like electronic music, the beauty that is Reddit, dill pickle flavored potato chips, cherry 7up, and Cholula beef jerky (yeah, he really likes food. Haha!), and amazing movies like "Night at the Roxbury, "The Matrix" (I KNOW!!), and "Grandma's Boy." But most of all, thank you for never giving up on us, even when I thought I wanted to, because I didn't know anything else. Thank you for teaching me that in order to have a good relationship, you have to actually work for it. Thank you for always making me laugh with your beyond corny jokes. Thank you for helping me be a better person. And thank you for choosing to stay by my side as I am learning and growing, and becoming the person I ultimately want to be. I love you dude, you are my absolute favorite. Here's to many more years together.
I am going to sign off now, and have a FaceTime sesh with my guy. I will leave this post with a few photos of us that I/we have taken over our 4 years together.
